There is a specific problem that happens in the operating systems of Windows XP machines that basically explains that a startup file or registry entry is corrupt. To the normal user, this means the computer does not boot up, and a repair needs to be executed.
Normally, with this specific problem, a black screen with white writing will display something similar to the following: “Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt = windowssystem32configsystem.” It will also go on to say that you can try or attempt to repair the problem by inserting your Windows disk and going into the recovery console.
